On August 6, the Uptown Rotary Ocmulgee Adventure Race (U-ROAR!) is excited to celebrate its 8th year as Middle Georgia’s premiere Adventure Race. Featuring an exciting mix of paddling, mountain biking and hiking/trekking, contestants will navigate through varied terrain seeking to find as many remote checkpoints as possible. U-ROAR! will challenge teams mentally and physically as they plot their strategies and test their endurance. The race will start at the Dames Ferry Campground on Lake Juliette, just outside Macon, Georgia. Beginning at 9 a.m. and only an hour’s drive from Atlanta, the 10 hour format allows teams to make the round-trip with no additional overnight expense. The race is organized by the Uptown Macon Rotary Club and 100% of the proceeds go to local charities. The primary beneficiary for the 2011 race is American Red Cross of Central Georgia.
